Sydney Masonic Centre is located on the corner of Goulburn Street and Castlereagh Street in Haymarket, Sydney CBD. The main entrance is on 66 Goulburn Street, however there is a second entrance on Castlereagh Street for functions held on Level 1. Please check with your event organiser which entrance to use.

Our central location close to Town Hall Station and Central Station makes Sydney Masonic Centre the ideal venue for Sydneysiders and visitors and can be reached via public transport and car using one of the parking options close-by.

Yes, Sydney Masonic Centre is fully accessible via our main entrance at 66 Goulburn Street. There are lifts service all levels, providing easy access to all event spaces and meeting rooms. Accessible toilets are also available on every level of the venue.

The Grand Lodge is a two-tiered auditorium. The upper level is accessible by stairs only; however, the lower level is fully accessible and can accommodate guests with mobility requirements.

Lost property will go to the Functions Manager on duty at the end of an event. Please note that anything not collected after 2 weeks from date of the event will be disposed.

The closest station is Museum Station (300 metres or a 3 minute walk) or Central Station (700 metres or 7 minutes). To walk from Museum Station, simply follow the Castlereagh Street exit signs inside the station, then turn left heading south down Castlereagh Street. At the first intersection (corner of Castlereagh & Goulburn Streets), turn right to come to the SMC main entrance at 66 Goulburn Street.

The loading dock height is 2.9m height. The driveway is located between SMC Goulburn St doors and Civic Hotel.

PROJECTION

In the Grand Lodge and Banquet Hall, the installation of new Panasonic 12,000 lumen laser light source data projectors deliver crystal clarity, brightness and resolution that is ideal for video and film screenings as well as all highlighting the granular detail in speakers’ presentations.

AUDIO

Throughout the building, new digital mixing consoles, concert quality Martin Audio public address systems, wireless microphone technology and lecturns are all welcome improvements for presenters and performers. Hearing assistance has also been augmented throughout the venue via wired hearing loops and infrared assisted listening systems.

A newly installed intelligent architectural lighting system allows for lights to be easily and precisely programmed for different functions. Perimeter RGB shadow lighting allows for different colour combinations and mood lighting states. Importantly, feature walls are augmented with gallery-style wall washer lights that highlight artworks and exhibition content. House lighting throughout the foyers and meeting rooms has been upgraded to second generation LEDs for improved light output and energy efficiency.

Event organisers can simply use touch screens to select options to light their presenters and performers, add stage washes and special effects as well as change the room ambience. Depending on the style of each event, and if needed, SMC’s AV technicians can also control all lighting from one central location.

New rigging infrastructure provides added flexibility and the advantage of quick turnarounds when re-setting rooms for different styles of events. A motorised truss in the Banquet Hall and new centrally placed ceiling motors allow for rigging special effects including giant chandeliers and mirror balls. These staging devices and capabilities mean that event organisers have the option to restyle the same room from conference mode to gala mode with ease and efficiency.

SMC offers free Wi-Fi throughout the entire venue for guests up to a maximum speed of 2mpbs. We also offer a wired option and a premium wireless option with speeds up to 1000 mbps both up and down. This is ideal for live streaming and delegates making use of digital applications and social media.

Yes, at SMC, we are committed to providing an accessible environment for all guests. Below is important information regarding our hearing assistance systems available in different rooms within our venue.

Ground Floor Rooms

These rooms are equipped with a hearing assistance system that requires the use of a headset provided by SMC. We currently have 13 headsets available for client use.

The headsets can function in two ways:
• As standard headphones, amplifying the audio signal.
• As an induction loop for those with hearing aids that have a “T” switch.

Clients with compatible hearing aids should switch their device to “T” mode to use the induction loop function.

Level 1 Rooms
Hearing assistance is not available

Level 4 Rooms (Remington, Northcott & Boardroom)
These rooms are equipped with induction loop only systems. Clients must have a hearing aid with a “T” switch to use this system. No headset is required in these rooms.
