Gala dinner venues in Sydney CBD

At SMC

Seven-metre ceilings, 380 seated, a marble arrival hall for cocktails and a kitchen that plates for 550 — the gala dinner venue Sydney keeps coming back to.

A great gala has a reveal. At SMC, guests arrive through the private Castlereagh Street entrance into the triple-height Marble Foyer for cocktails, then the doors open on the Banquet Hall — 555 square metres under seven-metre ceilings, dressed and lit for the night. Seat 380 at rounds, or 330 with a dance floor and stage. Menus come from our in-house culinary team, AV and rigging are already in the room, and for awards nights the 550-seat Grand Lodge sits next door for the ceremony before dinner.

Good to know

Gala dinner venues in Sydney CBD — questions answered

How many guests can SMC seat for a gala dinner?
380 at round tables in the Banquet Hall, or 330 with a dance floor and stage. Smaller dinners of 40 to 160 suit the Ionic and the classical rooms.
Can we hold the awards ceremony and the dinner in one venue?
Yes. The 550-seat Grand Lodge auditorium and the Banquet Hall are on the same level — ceremony in one, dinner in the other, with the Marble Foyer between them for drinks.
Is catering in-house?
All food is cooked on site by our own chefs — plated dinners, canapés, buffets and dietary menus. Beverage packages and bar service are arranged with the same team.
Is there a dance floor and space for a band?
The Banquet Hall takes a dance floor and stage with 330 seated around it, and the room has rigging and production infrastructure for bands, DJs and lighting.
